May Favourites

Hi lewas (loves)!

It’s been a while since I posted, but I’d like to share some must-attend May events and also the latest in beauty and fashion. Here’s a few of my favorite things in May.

In Events:

Some events I have attended, some I have not but am planning to so if you’re here (in the capital, Port Moresby) do come up and say hi, I love meeting new people and also seeing long lost friends!

The Bridal Show Port Moresby 2017

          Saturday May 6th 11 Am

Grand Papua Hotel

And no, I am not getting married! When I told people I was going to this show or when a few of my friends saw me at this event they asked the same question. Many of my older friends were asked the same question as well and for their case its understandable, they’re older! Haha I just thought that it was hilarious when people asked me that when I was with older single people (this makes me want to post something about socially appropriate questions! lol like people need to know how to ask the right questions at the right time). Anyway, so this event is simply to showcase different local businesses in the country that can cater for your different needs on your big day.

I just realized a few days ago  after getting a notification on Facebook that this event is different from the Ultimate Wedding Expo. Many people get confused with these two events. To me, I think the difference between these two events is the size and the number of small businesses that showcase their products and services. The 2017 POM Bridal Show I attended just recently was smaller in size and had a very focused wedding theme, whereas the Ultimate Wedding Expo had many different businesses and more people. The set up was bigger and the runway show featured other clothing types and not only bridal gowns.

Here are some pictures from the  recent POM Bridal Show.

Tapioca Delight Booth

The lovely Ginia Sialis, my good friend and owner of Tapioca Delight at her booth

PNG owned Mish Exotic Blooms booth. I simply adore these flower arrangements. The owner gets these flowers locally, especially from the Highlands region. She has a gift and has turned them into beautiful flower pieces! Perfect for weddings and other special occasions.

A close up of this beautiful orchid arrangement.

Few bits and pieces…

okay I hear you say enough with the pictures,

RSPCA Dog Show

Saturday May 13th 9AM

Waterfront Foodworld

Oooh I know this event will be oodles of fun and fuzz! I have heard of these RSPCA Dog Shows before but have never actually gone to one but I hope to attend this one.

33rd Austraian /PNG Business Forum and Trade Expo

May 14th – 16th

Stanley Hotel, POM

The Forum will again feature a Trade Expo for Australian and Papua New Guinean companies and other international firms wishing to use the opportunity to market their goods and services to clients and purchasers in each country, and to broaden their business relationships.  This year they intend to have 80 plus booths which will be a record number.

Here are some pictures from this event

Different businesses set up their booths

I had the privilege of meeting one of PNG’s seven coffee roasters. Pictured here with this fine PNG Blend Superior coffee which was freshly brewed at the expo.
